Cabinet Lines I Carry

I carry cabinet lines ranging from fully custom down to stock. Keep in mind that, in general, price follows quality. Real apples-to-apples comparisons can be tricky. But you rarely get more than you pay for and sometimes get much less. I carry the following lines of quality cabinets:

Wellsford: This is a premium fully custom cabinet line, one of the best in the industry. Wellsford is a small family-owned company based in Pennsylvania. They make cabinets from many wood species, including maple, walnut, red birch (not to be confused with white birch), bamboo, and rift cut white oak. At Wellsford they never use hot glue and they clamp pieces together the old-fashioned way. There are no shortcuts.

Wellsford makes framed cabinets including inset cabinets, as well as frameless. Wellsford also offers textured surface cabinets, which are less expensive but still not cheap. Wellsford is the only company I am aware of that can properly finish exposed ends in a plywood-box textured surface cabinet.  They also routinely finish the bottoms of all their wall cabinets. They get all the little things right.

Pros: Quality, flexibility, attention to detail, customer service, made in USA.

Cons: Expensive; lead time is typically about 12 weeks.

Wellsford is considered an excellent value, because their quality is really that good.

Prodigy: Prodigy is a frameless semi-custom line made in Greenville, South Carolina. This is a young, growing company. They make frameless cabinets only, with all-plywood boxes, in painted surfaces and textured. They are just introducing a few stained finishes in rift cut white oak. Prodigy is able to offer a wide range of customization. They also have a lower line partially produced in Asia with limited selections, targeted to flippers and apartments.

Pros: An excellent value, short lead time at 4-7 weeks, outstanding customer service, made in USA. Prodigy offers any Sherwin Williams color for only $150 over their standard painted cabinet price.

Cons: Handling of exposed ends in their textured surface cabinets is a bit wonky. Delivery is tailgate (outside) only, except when using a final mile company, but that slows things down by about a week and a half.

Covered Bridge: Covered Bridge makes framed semi-custom cabinets only. Their entire production is in Cambodia, which results in lower prices. They offer 3 different grades of cabinets.

Pros: Covered Bridge offers a wide selection of wood species and stains. Like Prodigy, Covered Bridge offers any Sherwin Williams color for only $150 over their standard painted cabinet price.

Cons: Lead time is longggg, 11-13 weeks. Even longer if you want a custom paint color.

Cubitac: Cubitac is a regional company offering stock cabinets. Assembly is in New Jersey but the skilled work is done in Asia. My door samples say “made in Vietnam.” Cubitac has recently improved quality significantly. They offer more than one grade of cabinet, and as with many cabinet lines with more than one grade, price follows quality.

Pros: They are fast. Typically 3-4 weeks.

Cons: Cubitac is a stock line, and sizes and color selection are somewhat limited. Tailgate delivery only.
